What is the Organic?

Natural ways, organoleptic qualities, territorial identity, respect for the environment and health. Italy is the European country that best represents this type of vocation in production, regarding the cultivated areas, the number and the varieties of products; nevertheless, �The Bel Paese� has got a curious paradoxical data : Italians are the laziest and the least numerous consumers of organic products and food in Europe, showing a lack of information and education fomenting this bizarre prejudice.

Italy was the first European country for organic production, but the eleventh one for organic products consuming, in 2004.

There is an entire story behind every single organic product, and it can be traced from the seed selection, through the growing plant, its transformation and the following distribution in the shops. Today agriculture is the source of environmental and man´s health pollutions.And the organic challenge starts from here: to beat modern agriculture which only leads to environmental degradation both in the ground and in the taste.

The need for a better and healthier diet, and the consumers´ growing awareness has determined an increase of organic production, while the organic farms are becoming more and more significant.

The recent national and international statistics show how the consumers have changed their way of buying food,choosing more and more high standard and organic products over the past few years.

From 1991, when regulations on this concern came into force, it has been clear the importance of the environment and the final consumer, thus the organic production started to become an essential issue, to be worthy incentives from public funds (Reg.
