Choosing high-quality organic products for our daily diets is a gesture of respect for the quality of life and personal well-being.
I have been involved in organic agriculture for many years and produce my own extra virgin olive oil and pasta.
I am also committed to promotion and consciousness-raising on the issues of healthy lifestyles and living in harmony with nature which has culminated in the SaporBio project and the great event it has produced.
'We are what we eat', as Hippocrates said, and this is why we cannot eat modified and polluted foods. Environmental education primarily means respect for and protection of our natural environment.
Mine is a choice which has grown out of a personal need for harmony with nature and a desire to get back to the flavours and aromas of the products that are the heart of the Mediterranean diet.
Healthy food is good food. We need to dispel the myth that healthy food equals medicine. Good foodstuffs grown respecting nature are tastier, better and more nutritious.
After I came back from an important trip to Tibet in 1994 I bought an old farmhouse in the Val d'Orcia and restored it according to the principles of bio-architecture.
The farmhouse has twenty hectares of forest and another twenty hectares of cultivated crops, predominantly olive groves.
I have now decided to base my style of life and personal philosophy on consciousness-raising relating to psychological well-being which necessarily starts from a good, healthy diet.
This is what led to my involvement in SaporBio and is at the heart of my profound commitment to the project.
